Quick answer
You do not need a second phone to scan a QR code already saved on your device. Choose the screenshot or photo in an image scanner, let the browser decode it locally, then inspect the full result and domain before opening a link. QRFoundry does not automatically navigate to decoded URLs.
How to do it
- Save the image at its original resolution instead of sending a compressed copy.
- Open the image scanner and select the PNG, JPEG, or WebP file.
- Review the decoded text, security warning, and hostname before copying or opening it.
Improve a difficult image
Crop closer while leaving a light margin, rotate the image upright, and increase screen brightness if you are photographing another display. Motion blur, social-media compression, glare, and a code that is only a few dozen pixels wide can make individual modules impossible to distinguish.
Treat decoded links as untrusted
A QR pattern does not prove that a destination is safe. Look for HTTPS, read the entire hostname from right to left, and be cautious with short links, login prompts, downloads, and non-web protocols. Copy the text when you want to investigate without visiting it.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Uploading a thumbnail instead of the original image.
- Opening a short URL without checking its destination.
- Cropping through the code's outer white margin.
